Heresy Films | PAUL COY ALLEN

Paul Coy Allen spent the first few years of his life in Chicago, Illinois before moving with his working-class family to Southern California. Constantly exposed to the cinematic blockbusters of the early 80’s, Allen was inspired by the works of Spielberg & Zemeckis; at the tender age of seven, his mind was set on becoming a director.

Allen advanced from studying Film & Electronic Arts at Cal State Long Beach and in 1988 began his career at Tollin/Robbins Productions. Allen’s first production experience was on Nickelodeon’s “Kenan and Kel.” He spent the next 4 years working on “The Amanda Show,” “The Nick Cannon Show,” and “All That.” Allen expanded his production knowledge with various networks including MTV, Comedy Central, E Networks, and NBC.

In 2006, Allen was presented with an opportunity to create a visual montage for Justin Timberlake’s 2007 “Future/Sex/Love/Sound” world tour. He went on to direct the music video for the Grammy nominated hit single “Give It To Me” from Timbaland’s 2007 Shock Value Album featuring Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. The song took the #1 spot on charts around the world including the US, Europe, and Canada.

Following which, Allen played director to three music videos for music producer Timbaland: “Morning After Dark” ft. Nelly Furtado, “Say Something” ft. Grammy-nominated artist Drake, and “If We Ever Meet Again” ft. Katy Perry. His recent music video/commercial work includes collaborations with artists such as Wiz Khalifa and Neon Trees.

2012 marked huge milestones in Allen’s career. He developed and executive produced a hit TV series “R&B Divas.” A non-scripted series, featuring Faith Evans, broke records at the TV One network becoming the highest-rated show in the network’s history. After multiple seasons and a franchise, Allen, along with his producing partners, are in the driver’s seat of many other television projects. Currently Allen is scheduled to direct upcoming episodes of Dan Schneider’s new comedy sitcom “Sam & Cat” for the Nickelodeon network.
