Johnny Milord is a non-Oscar, non-Emmy Award winning director. Although he feels it was more the Academy’s fault rather than his own, he still holds no grudges – a quality he attributes to his humble upbringing in Kansas City, KS.
Johnny has spent the past 8 years directing comedy. He recently wrapped his third season directing Chelsea Handler’s hit mockumentary sitcom “After Lately,” which he also co-executive produced and served as director on the pilot. This unique series afforded Johnny the opportunity to direct a vast assortment of celebrated guest stars, including Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron and Jane Fonda. Johnny is very instinctive in communicating with people and prides himself in not only bringing out the best in his performers but also in creating a fun atmosphere on set where the performers can thrive. Prior to helming “After Lately,” Johnny served as a producer and the sole sketch director on “Chelsea Lately,” beginning with the show’s inception. Johnny quickly became a highly-valued asset at Borderline Amazing, the production company Handler formed with partner Tom Brunelle. Johnny continued to produce and direct on her late night talk show while at the same time producing and directing multiple pilots for Borderline Amazing. He was also personally selected to produce and direct a feature-length documentary about Handler’s 2010 stand-up tour entitled “This Isn’t It.”
Because of his extensive experience in reality, sketch comedy and scripted narrative comedy, Johnny is equally comfortable producing and directing projects that span all genres of the comedy spectrum.
